Guardian Homes for Health-Tested Breeding Dogs

Boise Doodle Co

(Middleton & Emmett, Idaho)

Our Guardian Home Program

Our Guardian Home program allows us to raise exceptional dogs while keeping them in loving family environments rather than kennels. Guardian families become an important part of our breeding program by providing a forever home for one of our carefully selected puppies or adult dogs while we retain limited breeding rights. In exchange, guardians receive a high-quality, fully health-tested dog at a reduced cost and ongoing support from us throughout the dog’s life. We handle all breeding-related responsibilities, including health testing, veterinary care related to reproduction, and whelping or stud duties — so your role is simply to love, train, and care for your dog as a cherished family member.

What We’re Looking For in Guardian Families

We are seeking responsible, committed families who want a close partnership with us and are excited to be part of our program long term. Ideal guardians have a stable home, time to invest in training and socialization, and a genuine love for dogs. Because we remain actively involved in our dogs’ lives, we prefer Guardian Homes located within approximately 45 minutes of Middleton and Emmett, Idaho, which allows us to easily coordinate health testing, breeding, and visits when needed. If you live within this area and are interested in welcoming one of our dogs into your family while helping us continue our ethical breeding mission, we would love to hear from you.

Where Our Dogs Thrive in Family Homes — And Our Breeding Program Thrives With Integrity

At Boise Doodle Co., our Guardian Home Program allows us to grow our carefully curated breeding program without ever compromising our dogs’ happiness, health, or emotional well-being. We’re deeply committed to raising exceptional, family-focused puppies—but we also know we can’t do that alone.

And we certainly won’t do it at the expense of any of our dogs missing out on the one-on-one love, attention, and connection they deserve.

While we joke about wanting to keep every puppy that steals our hearts (and trust me, we get very attached), we know they thrive best when they grow up in forever families. Guardian Homes make that possible.

This program allows us to responsibly expand while ensuring every breeding dog lives the full, joyful, family-centered life they’re meant for—right from day one.

What Is a Guardian Home?

A Guardian Home is the permanent family for one of our future breeding dogs.
You bring home a hand-selected puppy or young adult and raise her as your cherished family member.

We retain breeding rights for a set number of litters.
When her breeding career ends, we cover her spay and she becomes fully, officially, and forever yours.

And yes—there is no upfront cost for the dog.
You receive one of our top-quality, fully health-tested breeding prospects without paying a dime for the dog itself.

It’s a partnership built on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to giving her the best life possible.

Your Responsibilities as a Guardian Home

Being a Guardian isn’t hard—but it is intentional. You’re agreeing to raise this girl/boy with love, structure, and good communication. You’ll be responsible for everything a normal pet owner handles:

Daily Care & Lifestyle

  • Provide a safe, loving home where she lives indoors as part of the family

  • Keep us informed of heat cycles, health changes, injuries, or concerns

  • Keep communication open, honest, and prompt

Nutrition

  • Our preferred nutrition plan is PawTree food + supplements

Veterinary & Preventative Care

  • Routine veterinary care and annual vaccines

  • Maintain flea, tick, and heartworm prevention as vet reccomended.

  • I highly reccomend you keep “Trupanion” Pet insurance, but it is not required.

  • Notify us immediately if she becomes sick or injured

Training & Socialization

  • Teach basic commands: sit, stay, lay down, quiet, leave it

  • Potty and crate train by 9 months (unless already trained)

  • Encourage positive reinforcement training only

  • Leash manners and polite behavior

  • Socialize her with friendly people and stable, well-mannered dogs

  • Avoid high-risk locations (pet stores, dog parks) until fully vaccinated

Grooming & Coat Maintenance

  • Regular grooming every 4–8 weeks

  • Maintain coat, nails, ears, and hygiene

Logistics & Travel

  • Must be able to bring her to us within 24–36 hours when needed

  • Males may be needed last-minute—we try our best to accommodate, but flexibility is essential

  • A fenced yard is strongly preferred, though exceptions may be made with proper precautions

  • Please notify us before taking her out of town

We have significant time, training, and financial investment in each breeding dog—often over $10,000 before they’ve ever had a litter—so communication and transparency are non-negotiable.

Exclusivity

  • You agree not to serve as a Guardian Home for another breeder (of the same or similar breeds), and you agree not to breed any dogs yourself while participating in our program. This relationship is truly a partnership between your family and ours, built on trust and shared purpose.

If at any point you decide you want to begin breeding on your own or pursue a different path, we completely respect that—but our female must be returned to us immediately so she can remain within our program.

What We Handle (Our Responsibilities)

We cover all costs related to health testing and breeding, including:

  • Full genetic panel

  • OFA & PennHIP evaluations

  • Eye certification

  • Progesterone testing

  • Ultrasounds and X-rays

  • Breeding-specific veterinary care

  • Whelping and puppy care

If she does not pass all required health testing, she will be spayed and remain with you as your pet.

Breeding, Whelping & How the Process Works

Breeding

When she enters her cycle and is ready, she’ll come stay with us for approximately one week.
After breeding, she returns home to you.

Pregnancy Care

We’ll guide you every step of the way.
You may bring her to your vet for ultrasounds or we may handle them here, depending on timing and availability.

Whelping & Puppy Raising

She returns to our home 5–7 days before delivery and stays for 7–9 weeks while raising her puppies.

This time includes:

  • 24/7 care

  • Round-the-clock monitoring

  • ENS/ESI

  • Puppy Culture & curriculum work

  • Vet checkups

  • Socialization

  • All the pampering and love she can handle

You’ll get plenty of updates, photos, and videos.
No visitors are allowed for biosecurity reasons (primarily parvo), but you’ll feel part of the journey.

How Dogs Adjust

Honestly? They do great.
Any confusion lasts maybe an hour or two before they settle in and soak up love from us.

Your confidence helps them feel confident too.

We treat every Guardian dog as if she’s our own—because while she lives with you, she’s always part of our breeding family.

The Big Picture

At the end of her breeding career, she’s spayed at our expense and remains permanently yours.

She’ll spend the rest of her life doing what she does best—being your loyal sidekick, cuddle bug, hiking buddy, or couch potato… whatever her personality calls for.

The Guardian Program is built on trust, communication, shared values, and a whole lot of love.
If you believe your family would be a great fit, we’d love to talk with you
